Equipment Technician Leader

As a skilled Equipment Technician Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.

Job Summary

This role offers a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

About the Job:

  • You will be responsible for developing and organizing preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure quality work is performed at the lowest possible cost.
  • Communicate daily with operations managers, supervisors, and production personnel to review equipment performance.
  • Perform root cause analysis to increase serviceability and reliability of equipment.
  • Develop and maintain positive employee relations and open lines of communication with employees.
  • Control labor, material, and part expenses within budgetary constraints.
  • Order parts and supplies as needed and request adequate tooling, hardware, and supplies.
  • Determine the nature and scope of forthcoming related projects and complete assigned projects as scheduled.
  • Maintain technical competency and stay current in technology and industry changes.
  • Communicate daily with operations managers and supervisors on general plant conditions and matters of importance.
  • Evaluate safety, work rules, regulations, and housekeeping standards to ensure compliance.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Be available for emergencies and respond as required to meet needs.

Requirements:

  • An associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training.
  • At least two years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in printing or packaging.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of vendors or employees.
  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
