Key Responsibilities- Assist the Department Supervisor in directing the work activities of the welders
- Ensure parts are made correctly and schedule is being followed
- Monitor and maintain all equipment, machines, and supplies within the department
- Communicate information, assist in resolving problems, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- High school degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
- Understanding of welding fundamentals
- Basic welding experience and/or training
- Basic knowledge of Mig Welding Equipment
- Successful completion of internal weld test
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to efficiently assist in leading a team and coordinate work with other departments
- Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently
- Knowledge of welding equipment and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret documents like blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Previous experience working within a highly technical environment
- Strong basic math skills
- Previous experience working within a weld department
- Previous forklift experience
- Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment
- General understanding of Metric and Standard systems
- Associates degree in a related technical field
- Prior lead experience, preferably in a weld department
- Microsoft Office skills
- SAP experience
Regularly exposed to varying temperature conditions, loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, and fumes from production equipment.
