Plumbing Systems Designer

We are seeking a talented Plumbing Designer to join our progressive Engineering Team in Austin, TX. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing plumbing systems that meet project requirements and local building codes.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to design plumbing systems that meet project requirements and local building codes.
- Create detailed plumbing drawings and specifications for the installation of water supply, drainage, and sewage systems, fire protection, medical gases, and specialty water systems.
- Perform and document plumbing calculations, such as fixture units, to size water supplies and drain, waste, and vent systems, storm drain sizing, medical gas sizing, domestic hot water loads, and natural gas sizing.
- Select plumbing materials, such as pipes, fittings, valves, and pumps, based on system requirements, budget, and compatibility with client requirements and architectural design.
- Stay up-to-date with local plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports to communicate design intent and requirements to clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct project site visits and field observations to ensure plumbing installations are implemented according to design plans and quality standards.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in an engineering field, desired.
- CPD or CPDT, desired.
- Knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in Revit.
- Knowledge of fire protection systems, sizing, codes, and regulations, desired.
- Knowledge of healthcare design, including medical gas sizing, codes, and regulations, and terminology, desired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with sustainable plumbing practices and technologies.
- Prior experience in plumbing design or a related field (3-7 years).
