Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Casualty Claims Specialist to join our team at Crawford & Company. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for investigating, reserving, negotiating, evaluating, and settling complex casualty claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine claims forms, policies, and endorsements to determine coverages.
  • Conduct on-site investigations of claims by interviewing claimants and witnesses, obtaining official reports, and inspecting physical damage.
  • Set loss reserves and prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by clients, local, state, and federal government, and by Crawford.
  • Settle claims by determining insurance carrier's liability, client's instructions, and authority levels required, obtaining demands, and making offers to claimants.
  • Control claims costs, recommend litigation when appropriate, and present evidence at legal proceedings.
  • Maintain expected case load, company reputation, and integrity of insurance products by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and make sales calls by calling on local businesses to solicit new business or to maintain existing clients.
Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience as a claims adjuster or completion of Crawford specified adjuster training if no experience.
  • Extensive, substantive experience as a Claims Adjuster; preferred a minimum of 4 years prior claims experience.
  • Licensed as required by state and local jurisdictions.
  • Outside adjusters must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record for company vehicle use.
