Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Computer Science Education Specialist. The successful candidate will work closely with our Computer Science Program Director to develop and implement a statewide strategy to drive the adoption of computer science curriculum and professional development programs in California and across the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a statewide strategy to drive the adoption of computer science curriculum and professional development programs
  • Build broad-based community support and engagement for computer science education
  • Support the Director in developing professional development programs for teachers
  • Conduct and disseminate interdisciplinary research on computer science education
  • Plan and facilitate symposia, lectures, and conferences on computer science education
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching or facilitation experience, preferably in an urban or rural context
  • Experience teaching English Language Learners (ELLs) and developing professional development programs for teachers
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to summarize current research and reform issues regarding computer science education and apply them to programs
  • Knowledgeable of online learning environments and skilled in designing and writing proposals, reports, and articles to secure funding
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Specialized training and/or experience in providing professional development and coaching, preferably having participated in institutes offered by California State Subject Matter Projects
  • Ability to develop, nurture, and sustain teacher leaders and create and maintain budgets
