The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to utilize nursing principles in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and assessment of patient responses to health conditions. This role involves understanding patient healthcare preferences and expectations while effectively coordinating care across various settings.

Key Responsibilities of Our Clinical Nurse Specialists Include:
  • Utilizes nursing principles for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and assessment of patient responses to health conditions.
  • Evaluates patient healthcare preferences and expectations.
  • Effectively coordinates the continuum of care across different settings.
  • Creates patient care plans tailored to individual conditions, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors, prescribing interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plans based on patient priorities, including interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents and reports interventions and patient/family responses.
  • Collaborates with patients and families to integrate their contributions into a multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements transfer and discharge planning throughout the care episode.
  • Implements nursing interventions in accordance with departmental, divisional, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Adheres to universal precautions.

Work Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend rotation.

Compensation: $54,000 to commensurate, excluding additional inpatient differentials and potential shift differentials.

Required Qualifications:
  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, or a Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • General computer proficiency is required.
  • Current nursing license in Iowa is required by the date of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
