Are you a Licensed Practical Nurse seeking to enhance your skills in an inpatient environment? D-H Lebanon-MHMH is actively recruiting LPNs for our inpatient units, providing a chance to practice nursing at the highest level of your licensure.
This unit features 36 beds dedicated to post-surgical care, focusing on orthopedics, general surgery, and plastic surgery. We are equipped with two negative pressure rooms for patients under evaluation for tuberculosis or those diagnosed with active tuberculosis or shingles. Additionally, we serve as the overflow unit for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, resulting in a diverse patient population. You will engage with patients at various stages of pre-and post-surgical care alongside managing medical co-morbidities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient/family education for stable patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, adhering to the established care plan. Notify the Registered Nurse of any changes in patient condition or unexpected findings.
- Review the patient care plan and relevant active orders before delivering care. Assist patients with daily living activities, nutrition, and hydration as per care goals.
- Perform and document focused nursing assessments, including vital signs, pain levels, skin and wound evaluations, functional status, and fluid balance assessments.
- Administer oral, topical, and inhaled medications. May administer intravenous medications upon successful completion of NH Board of Nursing approved training and specific delegation by a Registered Nurse.
- Apply dressings and assistive devices as indicated by assessments or as ordered by the interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate relevant assessment findings and suggestions for improving patient care to the interdisciplinary team and supervising Registered Nurse.
- Adhere to policies and procedures to maintain a safe care environment, taking action when safety concerns arise.
- Follow medication safety protocols, patient identification procedures, and documentation standards for patient information and care activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, required training, and competency assessments as per organizational expectations. Regularly check communications to meet these requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
Licensure/Certifications Required
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of NH is mandatory. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification is required.
