Growth Works Inc. is seeking a dedicated Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide ongoing care and support from a recovery-oriented perspective, helping clients achieve sustained personal recovery. Your collaboration with community partners, including hospitals, courts, law enforcement agencies, and treatment providers, will be instrumental in supporting clients in initiating and sustaining personal recovery.
You will engage in community outreach and education to collaborating agencies/organizations, community organizations, and in public forums as needed. This includes responding to emergent and non-emergent requests for services from hospital, court, law enforcement, and other community partners. You will also share community and treatment recovery resources, including twelve-step and other mutual aid programs, detox services, residential and outpatient SUD treatment, healthcare, housing, education, and employment resources and support.
Your responsibilities will include documenting direct services as well as collateral contacts within the Electronic Medical Record and funder databases, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of client services as required by GW and funders. You will facilitate peer recovery-based groups, participate in ongoing training, education, and other items as required. Establishing and maintaining liaison relationships with appropriate agencies, including local police and fire departments, hospitals, and courts, will also be essential.
This role requires a strong understanding of Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care, principles of trauma-informed care, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, 12-step recovery principles, and the ability to demonstrate these in all professional relationships. A work week of minimally 15-20 hours/week, plus 3-4/8 hour on-call shifts/week, is required, along with attendance at weekly staff meetings. Flexibility and adaptability to potential new partnership opportunities and responsibilities in various locations in Wayne, Oakland, and Washtenaw Counties are essential.
In addition, you must be able to adjust your hours of work and travel based on community needs, including evenings and weekends, where flexibility to drive yourself to locations on short notice to meet clients and support their needs is required. You will also need to complete manual tasks involving dexterity to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment. The ability to lift and transport materials/supplies up to 25 lbs. for internal documentation and recordkeeping, court support, and other administrative tasks is also necessary.
We offer a competitive salary of $22/hour and a comprehensive benefits package.
