Position Summary

The role demands a highly organized professional with strong initiative capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to clients on various aspects of intellectual property, including brand and copyright clearance, brand protection strategies, and product launches.
  • Assist in the registration and management of intellectual property prosecution for trademarks and patents.
  • Address IP infringement matters, including online takedowns, drafting cease-and-desist letters, and legal agreements.
  • Collaborate with external IP counsel and client attorneys to recommend best practices in intellectual property management.
  • Develop business practices and policies related to intellectual property.
  • Conduct IP due diligence and draft negotiations for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret various agreements pertinent to the entertainment industry.
  • Analyze and advise on legal rights and obligations, deal structures, guild agreements, and other related matters.
  • Work collaboratively to enhance systems, processes, and controls that improve operational efficiency and client service.
  • Utilize innovative problem-solving skills and sound business judgment to optimize revenues and minimize risks while fostering long-term client relationships.
  • Ensure contract terms align with Tri Star's best practices and business objectives.
  • Review contracts from client attorneys, business managers, and production companies.
  • Facilitate cross-team decision-making and endorse contracts for executive approval.
  • Act as a strategic partner within the Executive Leadership team, coaching and developing staff to meet performance expectations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage high workloads efficiently and effectively.
  • Creative strategic thinking and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in articulating and documenting complex transactions.
  • High cultural and emotional intelligence.
  • Expertise in contract law, intellectual property, and project management.
  • Proven track record of outstanding performance in previous roles.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of legal experience in the entertainment industry.
  • In-house intellectual property experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the California Bar.
  • Experience in building and managing teams is preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with multi-family office and entertainment industry experience.
