Position Overview:

This role involves operating school buses under various weather conditions, ensuring the safe transportation of students and authorized individuals to and from educational institutions, as well as during extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Bus Operation:
    Drive a school bus or authorized vehicle on designated routes and trips as per district-approved activities. Conduct pre and post-trip inspections and maintain cleanliness and serviceability of the vehicle.
  2. Safety Compliance:
    Ensure adherence to traffic laws and regulations governing pupil transportation. Maintain accurate records and logs as required by district and state guidelines.
  3. Student Management:
    Implement effective student management techniques to foster a safe and welcoming environment. Respond to emergencies and provide basic first aid when necessary.
  4. Professional Conduct:
    Exhibit professionalism and customer service skills, creating a positive atmosphere for students and parents.
  5. Ongoing Training:
    Stay updated with district policies and procedures, participating in training as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Experience working with diverse communities and families.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  3. Minimum age of 21 years.
  4. At least five years of professional driving experience.
  5. Knowledge of transportation laws and regulations.
  6. Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations.
  7. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  8. Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  9. Eligibility for a School Bus Driver's Certificate.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position requires physical stamina to operate a school bus, including the ability to lift and move students in emergencies. The work environment may involve exposure to high noise levels and varying weather conditions.
