Key Responsibilities:
As a Plumber Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
- Training and supervising a group of trainees in the vocational skills of Plumbing in a commercial and residential setting
- Ensuring the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records
- Promoting positive employee, customer, and community relations
- Providing timely evaluations of intern's knowledge and skills
- Developing and applying approved standards, including daily project plans and on-site procedures
- Maintaining an accurate inventory of all tools and equipment used on the jobsite
- Interface with sub-contractors and inspectors as requested by the Project Manager
- Assisting in vocational counseling and development of trainee's skills
- Serving as a mentor to students to develop successful plumbing and personal skills
- Attending all staff meetings pertaining to trade-related topics as directed
- Assisting in the scheduling, budgeting, and review of plumbing-related projects
- Seeking to establish job placement sites for apprentices
- Establishing, meeting deadlines, and achieving program goals
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Verifiable WA licensed Journeyman Plumber status and the ability to perform at the Supervisory level
- 5 years of recent experience working as a Journeyman Plumber
- Experience leading others in the plumbing industry
- Ability to work on all Nisqually Tribe-owned properties, which may include travel
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Valid Washington State Driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets the minimum requirements established by Nisqually Indian Tribes vehicle insurance provider
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with:
- Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity
- Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes
Competencies:
This role requires:
- Possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the primary responsibilities of the position
- Knowledge of safety procedures for plumbing systems
- Knowledge of plumbing theory and its application
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and maintenance practices and procedures
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in Plumbing repair and new construction
- Knowledge of current WA plumbing, mechanical, and related code requirements
- Skill in selecting and using appropriate instructional methods and procedures when new maintenance/construction practices are available
- Skill in critical thinking relating to the identification of student strengths and weaknesses and the ability to come up with alternate solutions or conclusions
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Ability to demonstrate patience with apprentices and aid in their growth
- Ability to communicate effectively with the Building Director, management, and homeowners or other clients on all proposed projects
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications at a journeymen level
- Ability to provide an educational training curriculum that will assure the success of students and their retaining of construction knowledge
- Ability to mediate student conflict, confrontation, and reconcile differences
- Ability to provide the leadership needed to bring people together to complete tasks requiring teamwork
- Ability to follow personnel policies
- Ability to follow directions
