The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Regional Administrative Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of vehicles, as well as managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain state agency vehicles, including panel trucks and cargo vans, to deliver and pick up materials and supplies.
- Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies, including physical receipt and inspection of packages, and documentation of receipt using the CAPPS Financial system.
- Perform standard warehouse duties, including the safe and efficient storage and inventory of materials, equipment, and supplies, and operate necessary motorized and manual equipment for moving and lifting pallets, boxes, and other large items.
- Assemble and install furniture and equipment ordered by and delivered to HHS customers, and adjust modular furniture installations to adapt to customer needs.
- Perform minor building repairs and maintenance, such as painting, plumbing fixture adjustments, and ceiling tile replacement.
- Assist with office moves by carrying, loading, transporting, and unloading office contents between HHS office locations.
- Oversee and direct activities of contractors hired for moves and modular furniture installation.
- Function as a member of the Regional Disaster Deployment Team in delivering, setting up, and monitoring emergency equipment to disaster areas.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, including safe cargo loading and unloading methods.
- Knowledge of State and Federal traffic rules and regulations for cargo and mail delivery.
- Knowledge of warehousing procedures, including safe use of motorized equipment for moving and securing materials.
- Ability to obey State and Federal traffic laws and follow safe practices in loading and unloading cargo.
- Ability to prepare accurate records documenting vehicle maintenance, mileage, and usage, and compile data and perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment, such as a postage meter, copier equipment, bindery equipment, or similar.
- Ability to understand and utilize documentation systems, such as CAPPS and CAFM.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as a forklift, pallet jack, and dolly.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform basic building maintenance or repair, such as painting, caulking, and changing light bulbs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions for completing tasks and assembling basic items.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, peers, and managers.
