Position Summary:We are seeking a dedicated RN specializing in Orthopedic Surgery to provide exceptional care to patients in the post-anesthesia care unit. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail while ensuring that patients recover safely and effectively following surgical procedures requiring anesthesia.
The post-anesthesia care unit is responsible for monitoring patients as they transition from anesthesia to full consciousness, including those undergoing general, regional, and local anesthesia.
As a qualified RN in this specialty, you will deliver comprehensive care through continuous monitoring, assessment, and timely interventions. Effective communication with the healthcare team regarding any abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions is essential to uphold our standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to surgical procedures.
- Verify that all operative and informed consent forms are properly completed.
- Regularly monitor PACU patients, tracking vital signs and other post-operative indicators.
- Initiate intravenous lines and ensure patients are well-informed about their procedures.
- Review patients' medical histories to identify critical information.
- Perform post-operative duties, including dressing changes and medication administration.
- Address patient inquiries and ensure their comfort throughout recovery.
- Monitor for any changes in patient conditions and report findings to the attending physician.
- Act promptly in the event of post-operative emergencies.
- Provide patients and their families with guidance on home recovery, including dietary and activity restrictions.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
