Job Summary

The Quality Engineer Intern will support the SIFCO Forge Orange operations by ensuring standards and procedures are in place and being met. This role will involve supporting new product introduction, contract review, and development of manufacturing/testing documentation. The intern will also support first article, MRB, and production activities, documenting issues and related resolutions.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct internal quality audits of metallurgical/special processes, participating in the improvement and preparation for MMM, Heat Treat, and Chemical Processing, as well as customer audits.
Evaluate forge and heat treat furnace performance versus customer requirements, including detailed review of critical product, to prevent thermal non-conformances through operator awareness and production documentation flow-down.
Gain understanding of industry and customer pyrometry requirements.
Confer with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and directing quality/metallurgical evaluation activities to ensure conformance to customer requirements and specifications.
Verify incoming raw material and release product testing, as needed.

Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited program, with a GPA of 3.0 or better, in a field such as Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science.
Ability to solve problems effectively, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong computer skills, including MS Office and ERP systems.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
