Job Summary:

As a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Covenant Health (Tennessee), you will have the opportunity to provide exceptional care to patients during one of the most precious moments of their lives. Our Labor and Delivery unit is a 12-bed unit with two holding and post-anesthesia care rooms, three operating suites, a nursery stabilization area, and an additional five triage rooms. Our team of skilled nurses, OB surgical technicians, certified nurse aides, and unit secretaries work together to provide a safe and supportive environment for our patients.

Responsibilities:

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.

Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.

Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.

Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.

Participates on unit-based committees.

Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.

Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Requirements:

Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license. CPR required. ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, and Stable preferred.

New graduate, within first (1) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) year experience).
