Job Title: Learning Technologist

Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Learning Technologist to join the Carey Learning Technology Group (CTG) within Teaching and Learning (T&L). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences for our students and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement innovative learning technologies and solutions to support teaching and learning.
  • Provide technical direction and support to faculty and staff on the use of learning management systems, instructional technologies, and other digital tools.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, faculty, and staff to develop and deliver training and professional development programs on the effective use of technology in teaching and learning.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in educational technology and make recommendations for their adoption and integration into our teaching and learning practices.
  • Work closely with other departments and teams to ensure seamless integration of technology into our academic programs and services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in course design and development, faculty training, or program/course assessment/evaluation.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading sessions using a web conferencing tool (e.g. Zoom or Teams), developing courses and templates using Canvas, utilizing web design tools (e.g., Creative Cloud, HTML, CSS, JS), digital video, and audio editing software.
  • Experience using Cidilabs DesignPLUS.
  • Experience writing and editing using HTML.
  • 1-2 years' experience in an institution of higher education in instructional technology support, instructional design, or in tech support.
  • Experience as a software engineer or with API development.
  • Experience working with artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Small Language Models, Chatbots, and XR applications.
