Job Title: Alarm & Detection Technician

Western States Fire Protection is seeking a skilled Alarm & Detection Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing reliable and high-quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing, and replacing fire alarm equipment, as well as conducting preventive maintenance services.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Test all equipment after installation or repairs to ensure system performance.
  • Work in compliance with the Company's safety manual, prioritizing the safety of self and others at all times.
  • Use company software to input testing results, with minimal technology skills required.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot fire alarm systems, including Ground-Faults, Shorts, Wire Integrity, Termination, Panel, Fuses, Battery Testing, and more.
  • Program dialers for monitoring, requiring phone line traditional and cell phone monitoring skills.
  • Complete basic repairs and installations, including moves, adds, and relocates for all types of systems and devices.
  • Finalize reports, deficiency reports, and possible bids via a computer and/or tablet.
  • Interact with clients, field personnel, and fire marshals.
  • Analyze blueprints.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, engineers, general contractors, and end users.
  • Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements, and general status of jobs.
  • Train apprentices on Company procedures, systems inspection, and installation techniques.
  • Perform all work to NFPA and Company standards, with quality inspection and installation techniques practiced.
  • Work with Project Manager, Schedule Coordinator, and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client.
Job Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes is required.
  • NICET I Certification within 1 year of employment.
  • NICET II Certification within 1 year after NICET I is achieved.
  • Idaho Limited Energy License.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Fire Alarm Service Experience required.
  • Manufacturers' certifications are preferred but not required (EST, Gamewell, FCI, Notifier, Honeywell, Simplex, Siemens).
  • Field installation experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of NFPA 72, Factory Mutual, and applicable codes is preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of expenses and scheduling.
  • OSHA 30 is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug test, background, and reference check.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing, and walking.
