Job Summary

GE Aviation seeks a highly skilled Senior Tooling Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing engineering group, you will be responsible for designing, procuring, and implementing new or updated tools, jigs, and fixtures related to the manufacturing process for Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as plant focal for process tooling, connecting the physics of processes and products to drive process safety, yield, and efficiency improvements
  • Provide technical leadership in areas of expertise, including development of tool engineering policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Partner with other engineers and/or business functions to create and communicate best practices throughout the Composites Integrated Product Team
  • Skilled user of NX (Siemens) software or similar CAD software
  • Actively participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities when necessary
  • Manage tool vendor qualification, relationship, orders, and delivery
  • Responsible for designing and assisting with implementation of tools, jigs, and fixtures
  • Drive root cause/corrective action (RCCA) related to tool design and tool manufacturing
  • Lead development of tooling inspection process
  • Guide and mentor coworkers in the development of tool design skills, related metrology practices, and other best practices
  • Articulate progression of projects and/or programs to all facets of the business, including technicians, engineers, site leadership & executive business leaders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related roles)
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience or related roles

  • Experience working with Teamcenter (Siemens) or similar Lifecycle Management software
  • Strong geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) fundamentals and ability to apply them to engineering drawings
  • Established project management skills
  • Experience working with graphite, invar, nickel, stainless steel, aluminum
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, communication (written / oral) & presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in designing tools for complex product shapes/structure
  • Willingness to shift working hours temporarily, if necessary, to support production needs
  • Knowledge of safety agency regulations, ISO and/or quality procedures
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
