Position Overview:

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our esteemed team. In this role, the Registered Nurse will take charge of nursing care and patient outcomes for a designated group of patients during specific time frames, utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional duties that align with the organization's mission and values.
  • Exhibit personal accountability for professional practice and growth.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, progress towards goals, and all required information in a timely manner.
  • Promote patient safety and quality care, adhering to established safety goals.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain caring relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Administer medications and therapies in accordance with policies, including blood transfusions.
  • Prioritize patient care delivery, utilizing critical thinking skills to coordinate responsibilities independently or through delegation.
  • Provide education to patients and families, assisting in discharge planning while considering readiness and potential barriers.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria relevant to the patient population served.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program, possess a valid Registered Nurse License in New York State, and hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and have at least one year of recent clinical experience in a Medical/Surgical setting. Experience in neuroscience is also preferred.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
