Surgical Pathologist

PhenoPath, a Quest Diagnostics Company, is a national reference laboratory in Seattle, WA, committed to rendering diagnoses you can count on for cases ranging from the most complex to the most straightforward.
This key position will sit onsite in Everett, WA, and will have periodic sign-out responsibility in Seattle, WA.
Responsibilities:- 5 years of general surgical pathology sign-out experience with a wide variety of primary pathology specimens, including prostate, gynecological, and breast specimens.
- Fluency in histologic and immunohistochemical assessment of a broad range of surgical pathology sample types, including diagnostic and prognosis/predictive markers.
- Experience or willingness to learn other testing modalities, e.g., PCR, FISH, chromogenic in situ hybridization, etc.
- Ability to function in a collegial manner with all pathologists and other staff at PhenoPath, including coordination of time off to ensure adequate service coverage and timely review of colleagues' difficult cases when requested.
- Availability to PhenoPath and Quest customers and staff as questions/concerns arise.
- Participation in PhenoPath committees and/or the development of PhenoPath informational/marketing materials.
- Maintaining appropriate licensing/accreditation and keeping abreast of the relevant pathology literature via participation in CME or similar activities.
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, employees, clients, vendors, and the company.
- Supporting the medical director in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Performing other assigned duties or tasks on an as-needed basis.
- Board certification in anatomic pathology and/or anatomic and clinical pathology.
- Fellowship training is desirable (e.g., general surgical pathology, Cytopathology, GU, GYN/breast, or Soft Tissue pathology).
- 5 years post-fellowship general surgical pathology sign-out experience.
