Job Title: Grading Laborer

Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking a skilled Grading Laborer to support their Charleston area grading projects.

Job Summary:

The Grading Laborer will be responsible for assisting site development leadership, equipment operators, and other site preparation professionals as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a neat job site and move materials by hand or hand tools.
  • Provide general labor support as needed, following the direction of the grading foreman or designated supervisor.
  • Assist site superintendents, equipment operators, utilities crews, or other designated site development personnel.
  • Operate various hand tools, including shovels, rakes, and other tools used to move materials.
  • Train to operate earth moving equipment, such as rollers, off-road dump trucks, farm tractors, brooms, skid steer/bobcats.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and environments, including dusty, wet, and loud noise areas.
  • Keep company work sites clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.
  • Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Requirements:
  • 0-1 year of equipment operation experience.
  • Experience operating one or more pieces of earth moving equipment (dozers, graders, etc.).
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
  • Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience working with site development or earth moving construction companies.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by SBCC policy.
  • Ability to work with and climb ladders, including understanding of ladder safety and inspection.
