Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of surgical equipment and supplies
  • Coordinate the configuration of equipment to ensure ease of use
  • Check and maintain the sterility, cleanliness, and functionality of instruments and equipment
  • Assist in the allocation of equipment for procedures on a daily basis
  • Participate in the setup and use of equipment during procedures
  • Assist in the placement and positioning of patients on the operating table
  • Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves as required
  • Assist in the counting of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures
  • Put dressings on patients following surgery
  • Actively participate in meeting patient safety goals and promoting quality and safe patient care
  • Clean the operating room and assist in room turnover
  • Wash and sterilize equipment
  • Recommend guidelines for the use of equipment, purchase of new/replacement equipment, additional parts and supplies
  • Assemble and prepare case carts with supplies, instruments, and equipment in preparation for procedures
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Strong experience with minimally invasive, general, ENT, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, open heart-thoracic, spine, urology, GYN, podiatry, maxillofacial, and neuro surgery specialties
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Surgical Technology
  • Video, orthopedic, and other specialized equipment experience
