About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled NFC Hardware Design Engineer to join our Wireless Hardware group at Apple. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing next-generation NFC solutions for our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop NFC hardware solutions for our products, including specifications, conducted performance, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including System EE/Integration, Product Design, and Antenna Design, to ensure seamless integration of NFC hardware with other product components.
  • Communicate with external vendors to define components and drive technical issues to closure.
  • Develop and maintain schematic capture, PCB fit/placement, and radio tuning and matching expertise.
  • Conduct bench testing and development hardware bring-up.
  • Support factory prototype build and training, with occasional travel.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause identification.
Requirements
  • BS, MS (or significant equivalent experience), and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in radio design, preferably in high-volume consumer electronics.
  • Solid understanding of NFC systems, including NFC theory of operation, NFC circuit design, NFC antenna design considerations, EMVCo specs, and RF fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and other general lab equipment.
  • Modeling tools like SPICE to model transformer networks.
  • Moderate soldering skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
