We are in search of a highly capable and driven Software Engineer to become part of our vibrant team. In this position, you will take charge of designing, developing, and optimizing the Metal runtime and firmware for our AI accelerators. As an integral member of our software engineering division, your contributions will be vital in enhancing the performance and efficiency of our AI systems.
This position offers a hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Metal Runtime Development: Architect, implement, and refine the Metal runtime for our AI accelerators, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Firmware Development: Create, implement, and enhance on-device asynchronous software operating on numerous ASICs, each equipped with hundreds of processors and custom data movement and compute co-processors.
- Collaboration with Hardware Teams: Partner closely with hardware engineers to comprehend the architecture and features of our AI accelerators, collaborating on the development of runtime software that maximizes hardware capabilities.
- Performance Analysis and Optimization: Conduct thorough performance assessments of the Metal runtime, identify bottlenecks, and implement enhancements to achieve peak performance for AI workloads.
- API Design and Implementation: Contribute to the design and execution of APIs that facilitate seamless integration of the Metal runtime with higher-level software components.
- Debugging and Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve issues related to the Metal runtime, ensuring robust and reliable performance across various AI applications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in low-level software development.
- Strong command of programming languages such as C / C++.
- Experience in programming and debugging massively parallel systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with AI and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently with cross-functional teams.
- A passion for technology and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is achievable in AI.
Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k, encompassing base and variable compensation targets. Factors such as experience, skills, education, background, and location influence the actual offer made.
