Position Summary:
We are in search of a driven and proactive individual to fill the role of Pharmacy Liaison. This position is ideal for experienced pharmacy technicians who are registered in their state of employment. While national certification as a CPhT is preferred, it is not mandatory. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work autonomously while building strong, credible relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and internal staff at Shields. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional care to patients by offering comprehensive medication management services.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals within the clinic to provide seamless patient support.
  • Educate patients on the benefits of utilizing pharmacy services to enhance their overall care.
  • Assist with outpatient retail and specialty prescription needs.
  • Expand the patient base for specialty pharmacy services.
  • Monitor patient adherence to medication regimens and facilitate refill prescriptions.
  • Maintain effective communication with the centralized Patient Service Center regarding various reports and patient appointments.
  • Contribute to the development of new processes to enhance operational efficiency and patient care.
  • Identify medications that require special handling or storage.
  • Manage supplies necessary for specific medications.
  • Address and triage incoming inquiries from patients.
  • Conduct refill reminder calls under pharmacist supervision.
  • Assist patients with insurance-related issues and financial assistance options.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in all required systems.
  • Utilize database applications to manage and update relevant patient data.
  • Analyze operational issues and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and service quality.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives actively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect the organization's information.
  • Engage in continuous learning through educational opportunities and professional development.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrate good judgment, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and focused on quality patient care. A background in transplant, hepatitis C, infectious disease, or oncology is advantageous.

Experience and Education:
Required: 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician; Preferred: 3-5 years. A High School Diploma or GED is required. State registration as a pharmacy technician is mandatory, and national certification as a CPhT is strongly preferred.
