Position Overview

Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Billing Coordinator who will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate billing and reconciliation of patient services through the clearinghouse process, ultimately facilitating timely payments from insurers. This position operates under the guidance of the Billing Supervisor and is responsible for generating weekly aging and reconciliation reports that reflect the status of all account encounters.

Work Environment: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Compensation: Starting at $21.50/Hour
Typical Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility in scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily reviews and processing of all patient encounters for insurance payment through ABH's electronic medical records system.
  • Address open and incomplete encounters to ensure they are billed appropriately.
  • Resolve claim denials and unpaid claims, resubmitting as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit weekly aging reports to the Billing Supervisor and Comptroller for evaluation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurers to address issues related to denied claims.
  • Maintain a tracking system for incoming and overdue payments.
  • Request pertinent information from clinical staff as needed.
  • Provide customer service support to employees, management, and external vendors/agencies.
  • Adhere to professional standards, practice policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with additional duties as required within the Billing Department.
  • Responsibilities may evolve over time with or without notice.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to establish and maintain productive working relationships across all departments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement, customer service, and team collaboration.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with healthcare insurance claims and referral processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with health insurance, particularly knowledge of reimbursement processes, patient responsibilities, deductibles, and co-pays.
  • Background in working with electronic medical record systems within a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of office management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
