Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our imaging team at Northwestern Medicine. As a casual rotating position, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer gadolinium contrast intravenously and screen for allergies and contraindications.
  • Position patients on examining tables and place coils close to areas of interest, following exam protocols and reviewing physician orders.
  • Enter data into computer systems, including anatomical areas to be scanned, orientation, and position.
  • Communicate with patients before procedures to obtain medical history, explain risks, and discuss expectations.
  • Key commands to specify MRI scan sequences and adjust parameters and slice positioning as needed.
  • Alert patients and staff to potential dangers of wearing or carrying metal near the magnet.
  • View images on video display screens to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure patients complete MRI screening forms, review written forms, and discuss verbally for contraindications.
  • Coordinate schedules, prioritize urgent exams, and obtain wet reads as needed.
  • Maintain and clean work areas and equipment, replenishing supplies as necessary.
  • Adhere to MRI safety guidelines, policies, and procedures, controlling and evaluating safe entry of all persons, objects, supplies, and equipment into the MRI environment.
  • Ensure exams are ordered correctly in HIS/RIS and charged and tracked accurately.
  • Initiate service calls for equipment problems.
Requirements
  • ARRT or ARMRIT certification.
  • 2-3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • BLS through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ARRT (MR) certification.
