Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Electrical Business Class Lead to join our team in Minneapolis, MN. As a key member of our Building Engineering Services Design Center, you'll lead a team of engineers and designers on complex architectural engineering projects across various market sectors. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving business growth, managing technical and operational activities, and ensuring the highest quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, collaborating with marketing and client development teams to drive business growth.
  • Manage the technical and operational activities of the electrical discipline, ensuring seamless project execution and quality control.
  • Prepare and review project budgets and scopes for the electrical discipline, tracking budget status and making adjustments as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate all work performed within the discipline, prioritizing tasks and allocating resources effectively.
  • Establish work priorities and project assignments for staff, monitoring scope of work and scope changes.
  • Foster collaboration with other discipline groups, facilitating coordination and ensuring a cohesive project delivery.
  • Conduct interviews and provide new employee mentoring, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and setting employees up for success.
  • Establish employee goals and conduct performance reviews, driving employee growth and development.
  • Schedule and conduct section meetings to discuss productivity, workload, and quality control issues, ensuring a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Advance the skill level of personnel through training, education, and experience, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with electrical discipline managers from other business group locations to review workload, project status, and staffing requirements, ensuring a unified approach to business operations.
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates for proposals, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Monitor changes in codes, regulations, and client standards, keeping staff informed and up-to-date on current industry practices.
  • Implement required changes into electrical design standards, procedures, and deliverables, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Perform quality control reviews, ensuring that all deliverables meet HDR's high standards.
  • Serve as a Project Manager or Task Lead as needed, taking on additional responsibilities to drive project success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong background in team leadership and business development.
  • Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR's values, with a proven track record of driving business growth and delivering high-quality results.
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts, demonstrating a collaborative and proactive approach to business operations.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture, with a strong sense of belonging and a willingness to contribute to the company's mission.
