The City of Frederick is seeking a skilled Project Inspector to join our team. As a Project Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting developer and City-funded construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Key Responsibilities- Perform construction inspection services for Developer-funded projects, including utilities, roadways, forest conservation areas, stormwater management, bridges, and structures.
- Advise contractors, designers, and other representatives on necessary actions to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and contract terms.
- Work with contractors, utility companies, consultants, government agencies, and City staff to coordinate and ensure compliance with contract documents and City standards.
- Interpret plans and specifications for solutions to problems with third-party inspectors, contractors, designers, and others.
- Review plans, submittals, and permit applications for compliance with approved specifications.
- Administer all aspects of bonds/sureties to guarantee completion of public infrastructure.
- Review and comment on civil engineering plans for constructability and conformance with specifications.
- Review and comment on acceptability of as-built plans, valve ties, and Stormwater Management State BMP.
- Generate and administer punch-lists for project completion.
- Complete inspection tasks related to City contracts and Dry utilities as delegated by Inspectors II & III.
- High School diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of construction-related field experience, preferably in civil engineering and infrastructure.
- College-level coursework in civil engineering or any combination of experience and training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for long periods of time. The employee is regularly stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to climb ladders, ramps, and walk over uneven terrain. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical equipment/parts and in close proximity to vehicular traffic. The employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and on an active construction site. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places.
