Job Summary

The Multimodality Supervisor is a key role in the Radiology Services department, responsible for overseeing the delivery and quality of imaging services. This position requires a strong leader who can plan, organize, and improve work processes in various sections of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery and quality of imaging services, ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform procedures as needed, due to workload or complexity, and ensure adequate staffing levels, supplies, and resources are available to meet clinical demands.
  • Schedule, monitor, evaluate, and modify staffing patterns to provide services in assigned areas, and interview, counsel, and complete performance evaluations.
  • Train new staff and ensure all registrations and certifications are current, on file, and up to date.
  • Partner with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings to ensure consistent and timely communication throughout the department.
  • Facilitate goal setting for staff working in the imaging sections, monitor goals, achievements, and ensure the outcome of the goals is reflected in the annual performance evaluations.
  • Encourage employees to participate in Employee Satisfaction Surveys, Patient Safety surveys, and other activities providing service feedback results to staff, and initiate a plan of action related to areas of improvement.
  • Partner with Management to develop a budget for the department, including providing feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for continued growth, monitor operational budgets, and implement corrective action plans for negative productivity and operating expense variances.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence in the imaging sections by partnering with management to communicate service excellence and patient-centeredness expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results.
  • Hold self and staff accountable for service excellence in their areas of responsibility, and facilitate reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.
  • Act as a Radiology liaison to other departments, develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians and other medical departments to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, revising, submitting, and implementing policies, procedures, and goals that help Department and System goals.
  • Assist in ensuring the imaging sections are compliant with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the Texas Department of Health (TDH) standards, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Identify patient service requirements by utilizing AIDET when communicating with patients to ensure they perform the correct exam on the correct patient, establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients, and other persons in a position to know about the service requirements.
  • Coordinate and run groups focusing on patient safety, customer service, performance improvement, environment of Care, Employee Engagement, Physician Engagement, Quality Improvement, Inter-Departmental Relations, etc.
  • Participate in shared governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees, including LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, or any professional organization participation, QC assurance with radiologist, etc.
Requirements
  • Able to perform high-quality advanced imaging procedures according to exam protocol and in compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures in a timely manner, and explain the procedure to put patients at ease.
  • Able to perform tasks exclusively without need for routine oversight.
  • Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.
  • Able to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores, and developing action plans when required.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate care for the following age groups (specific to department): newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.
  • Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
  • Able to make tactical conclusions around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies, and/or procedures, able to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Able to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff, general computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
  • Able to take call, if required.
