Mine Technical Services Manager

Job Summary
The Mine Technical Services Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of Mine Engineers, Geologists, and Mine Surveyors. This includes assisting with the development of budgets and performance target measures for the group, developing and managing mine, waste dumps, and stockpile designs, and directing and coordinating the execution of projects and plans to achieve desired results in safety, quality, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the engineering phase of developments and operational activities
- Lead and direct exploration and identification studies for raw material sources, including exploration, drilling programs, surface mapping, and potential reserve estimates
- Verify that assets are being operated per the mining plan
- Collaborate with Mine Supervisors to ensure approved mine production targets are achieved
- Provide geology expertise for technical due diligence with respect to new resource acquisitions
- Participate in the selection of new equipment
- Monitor key performance indicators on a continuous basis to improve process efficiency, product quality, and cost effectiveness
- Complete performance management tools for all direct reports as required
- Promote and encourage teamwork and high-performance standards and health and environmental stewardship throughout the division
- Provide support and feedback to departmental staff to ensure continuous improvement and development
- Provide effective, ongoing communications to ensure departmental staff are aware of ongoing issues or changes
- Support Safety Management programs and regulatory compliance
Requirements
- 5-7 years' experience coupled with prior leadership experience in a mining environment and thorough knowledge of all facets of the mining industry, including measurement and operations safety management and environmental regulations
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong PC skills, proficient in MS Office, ArcGIS Pro, Vulcan, or other mine planning software programs
- Knowledge of mining performance and systems
- Ability to engage, inspire, and manage the performance of others
Education
- Bachelor or Master's of Engineering in Mining, Geological, or Civil
Physical Requirements
- This position requires regular work in front of a PC, desk, and phone and occasional travel
