About the Role:

As a Certified Orientation Specialist at Guide Dogs for the Blind, you will play a vital role in helping our clients achieve their independent mobility goals. You will provide direct instruction to clients, including foundational skills, long cane assessments, and assistive technology training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to clients, including foundational skills, long cane assessments, and assistive technology training.
  • Assist with data collection and outcome measurements for the OMI Program.
  • Participate in Guide Dog Experience days and other outreach events.
  • Give professional presentations about O&M and guide dog mobility at conferences and conventions.

Requirements:

  • Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS), Master's Program.
  • Experience working with a broad range of clients in residential and in-home settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and follow through and complete projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a diverse constituency where sensitivity and confidentiality are critical.
