Vice President of Cardiovascular Operations

Oversee and enhance the Cardiovascular Services division within the healthcare organization, establishing and upholding standards for service delivery and organizational performance strategies that align with Piedmont Healthcare's mission.
Accountable for defining the objectives of the Cardiovascular Service Line in partnership with clinical and operational stakeholders, including key physicians and other healthcare professionals involved in managing the Cardiovascular Services population.
Participates as a member of a collaborative management team dedicated to advancing the Mission, Vision, and Values of PHC and Cardiovascular Services, fostering a patient-centered approach while promoting Cardiovascular Services throughout the care continuum and improving value-driven outcomes.
Responsible for structuring the organization to effectively support services for Cardiovascular Services populations while ensuring high-quality patient care.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the planning, execution, and continuous assessment of the Cardiovascular Service Line in accordance with system-wide goals, which include Cardiovascular Imaging, Cardiac Catheterization, Heart Failure Clinic, and Cardiac Rehabilitation Services.
Ensure alignment of initiatives with the mission, vision, and strategic planning processes in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Services Medical Director.
Attend regular System CV Service Line meetings to represent the healthcare entity and keep other leaders, physicians, and staff informed.
- Provide comprehensive leadership for all inpatient and outpatient services, including but not limited to recruitment, termination, performance management, coaching, counseling, and development of CV staff.
Monitor productivity and staff utilization in areas of responsibility, considering shift patterns, skill levels, patient census, acuity, and financial constraints. Facilitate employee engagement and development initiatives within CV Services.
- Establish and meet annual objectives for areas of responsibility; provide updates to the COO as necessary, at least quarterly. Effectively translate objectives and goals into actionable steps.
- Ensure that quality patient care is delivered in accordance with established standards of care, practices, and hospital policies.
- Develop, revise, and approve all policies and procedures for the hospital's Cardiovascular Services line, ensuring that each area has clinical/technical policies to address specific operational needs, with regular reviews and updates.
- Manage all financial aspects of Cardiovascular Services, including the preparation of operating and capital budgets, annual equipment analysis to identify trends or issues, and timely completion of monthly Responsibility Reports with acceptable variance explanations.
- Ensure Quality, Safety, and Service within Cardiovascular Services by developing and implementing patient satisfaction metrics and monitoring trends with physicians and staff; identify and implement strategies to exceed patient and physician expectations.
- Identify communication needs and implement strategies for provider and staff satisfaction, monitoring trends and adjusting to maintain a positive work environment.
- Oversee ongoing performance improvement initiatives to assess the quality and appropriateness of patient care, as well as enhance process efficiency and resource utilization. Review, analyze, and implement improvements based on data indicators, involving physicians in discussions regarding outcomes.
- Establish productive and diplomatic relationships with functional leaders across the Piedmont system, supporting prioritized initiatives, mandates, deliverables, and resource allocation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of clinical experience in a hospital environment required. Three (3) years of management experience required, preferably in a hospital setting.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current state license required, depending on degree.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, process improvement, or a closely related field. Familiarity with hospital departments, physician offices/clinics policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines affecting healthcare systems. Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with physicians, staff, patients, visitors, and Piedmont Healthcare partners.
