Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at Denver Health. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will be responsible for performing all components of patient registration and discharge into our EPIC system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enter charges for services, data entry, and chart breakdowns
  • Prepare daily cash deposits
  • Perform a variety of routine office tasks and maintain logs
  • Provide customer service, answer telephones, and support nursing and counseling staff

Essential Functions:

  • Answer telephone inquiries, screen calls, and route calls and take messages
  • Collect co-payments, point-of-service payments, deposits, and other payments, issue receipts, and balance cash drawers
  • Work to properly identify patients to increase clean claims and minimize errors associated with misidentification
  • Complete documentation for uninsured patients seeking emergency care, including CICP and Emergency Medicaid
  • Coordinate bed assignments, transfers, and discharges through various applications and maintain communications with inpatient nursing units and nursing supervisors
  • Verify and update patient demographics information and billing insurance information for new and existing patients
  • Call insurance companies for treatment authorization and benefit information
  • Disseminate direct admit information to other Patient Access personnel for proper screening and insurance verification
  • Maintain quality assurance scores of 98% or higher in conjunction with department expectations

Requirements:

  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED required
  • No experience required

  • Ability to demonstrate professional work behavior by following Denver Health guidelines/policies

  • Ability to complete daily work by the end of the shift
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Ability to type 25 wpm
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Epic
