Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist Float to join our team at Baptist Health. As a key member of our laboratory department, you will be responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens, performing technical procedures, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and public relations.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and process patient specimens, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids
- Perform venipuncture and capillary collection procedures
- Process specimens accurately and efficiently, including proper patient identification
- Assist in departmental training and education of new employees and students
- Participate in maintaining a clean and organized work area, and ensure adequate supplies are available
- Perform point-of-care testing and report results accurately and in a timely manner
- Rejection and recollection of specimens based on established criteria
- Participate in continuing education and proficiency surveys as needed
- Report instrument or procedure failures to supervisor or appropriate personnel
- Participate in required laboratory and facility meetings
- Review and adhere to laboratory and facility policies and procedures
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Courses in biology, chemistry, and computer science preferred
- Certification in phlebotomy preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory is desirable
