Overview of the Role:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing essential custodial tasks to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow directives from the lead custodian and collaborate with building administrators and the Director of Custodial Services.
- Communicate supply and equipment needs promptly to avoid disruption in service.
- Assist in moving furniture and equipment as required.
- Support the setup and cleanup for special events and activities.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance; report major issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Identify and correct minor safety hazards; escalate significant concerns immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness of school property, including dusting, cleaning glass surfaces, and sanitizing restrooms.
- Sweep, vacuum, scrub, mop, and disinfect various areas as needed.
- Ensure restrooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Regulate HVAC systems for optimal comfort and efficiency.
- Monitor and turn off unnecessary lighting outside of operational hours.
- Uphold security measures for the building and premises.
- Keep all areas clean and safe, especially during adverse weather conditions.
- Dispose of waste in accordance with regulations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate protective gear.
- Follow all district policies and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in custodial work is preferred.
- Successful completion of background checks is required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in organizing and coordinating tasks.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills for reporting issues.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with staff and students.
- Willingness to engage in self-assessment for professional growth.
- Competence in performing tasks according to established procedures.
