We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Advisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, providing guidance and mentorship to help them achieve their academic and career goals.
Key Responsibilities- Student Advising: Provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students, helping them navigate their academic programs and make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.
- Course Scheduling: Work with the department to schedule courses and classrooms, ensuring that students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
- Student Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including transcripts and degree audits.
- Outreach and Recruitment: Develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies to attract and retain students, including high school and community college students.
- Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, staff, and other departments to ensure that students receive a comprehensive and supportive educational experience.
- Education: Bachelor's degree + at least 3 years of relevant experience or graduate degree.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience: At least two years of experience advising students at a college level or experience directly related to the discipline.
- Background: Familiarity with North Carolina State University undergraduate academic programs and policies.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS).
