Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cancer Genetic Counselor to join our team at LifeBridge Health. As a Cancer Genetic Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals determine their risk for cancer and providing guidance on genetic testing and counseling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Conduct a full family history of the patient and provide genetic counseling, including obtaining a full family history at every session and conducting intake screening to obtain medical history and family pedigree evaluation.
  • Patient Education/Counseling: Provide education and counseling to the patient about genetic testing, including assisting in determining if genetic testing is the right decision for the patient and providing emotional support to individuals and their families.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that patients' needs are met by providing care or service dependably and consistently, including demonstrating empathy and understanding patient concerns by listening carefully and responding appropriately.
  • Data Management: Maintain key and vital statistics with regard to genetics program, including maintaining genetic counseling program files and records and preparing statistical reports for Cancer Institute Administration.
  • Genetic Testing/Clinical Research: Provide clinical expertise in determining which test is best suited for the patient's history/condition and participating in a team of clinical researchers.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's of Science Degree in Genetics or Genetic Counseling.
  • Certification: American Board of Medical Genetics - Genetic Counseling.
