Job Summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Roll-Off Driver to join our team. As a Roll-Off Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently collecting and transporting waste and recyclables to our post-collection facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and Transport Waste: Drive a roll-off truck along designated routes to collect and transport waste and recyclables to our post-collection facilities.
  • Perform Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition and complete and submit the vehicle condition report at the end of the shift.
  • Interact with Customers: Courteously interact with customers and the general public along the route to answer questions and respond to requests, and notify supervisors of any issues requiring management action.
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Environment: Clean loose trash off the truck and/or ground around the truck and container that spills during the loading and unloading process to maintain a clean customer site and safety along roads and highways.
  • Comply with Regulations: Maintain and submit a DOT logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report (post-trip inspection sheet) as required by law or company policy, and follow safe operating practices, including lock out/tag out procedures to ensure proper operation of the truck.
  • Monitor Operations: Monitor operations to detect loose debris, using mirrors or direct sight and/or listening for debris falling onto the truck during dumping operation, and visually scan the customer site before and after dumping.
  • Adhere to Company Policies: Adhere to all DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations and standards, and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired.
  • License: Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques, and ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting or standing.
Working Conditions:
  • Environmental Factors: Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, extreme hot and cold weather conditions (depending on season), moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Work Environment: Work in outdoor environment up to 100% of the time, and work in motor vehicle traffic conditions constantly.
