Fleet Management Specialist

Solano County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the acquisition, utilization, repair, and replacement of the County's vehicle and equipment fleet. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the department's senior management team and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the County's fleet program.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, organize, and direct the fleet management program, including acquisition, utilization, repair, and replacement of vehicles and equipment.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for fleet management, including vehicle purchase and disposal, maintenance and repair, and fuel management.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of division staff, including subordinate supervisors, and make recommendations on personnel actions.
- Conduct utilization studies and evaluate the condition of the fleet on an ongoing basis, making recommendations on fleet size and composition.
- Develop and manage the fleet budget, including vehicle replacement and maintenance costs.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vehicle preventive maintenance and repair program.
- Develop and maintain a computerized system for tracking vehicles and equipment, maintenance, parts inventory, fuel, shop labor, costs, utilization, billing, and motor pool operations.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in equipment or fleet management, with two years of supervisory or management-level experience.
- Associate degree in automotive services, business administration, business management, or a related field.
