Position Overview:
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Associate Chief of Staff for Spinal Cord Injury. This position is crucial in ensuring that our Veterans receive exemplary care at the Jefferson Barracks Division.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Spinal Cord Injury program and its operations.
- Collaborate with both medical and surgical departments to establish and uphold service agreements that guarantee superior care for Veterans with spinal cord injuries.
- Advocate for and implement patient-centered health services, ensuring a smooth continuum of care.
- Foster an environment that prioritizes patient-centered services.
- Ensure adherence to local, VISN, and national policies within the Spinal Cord Injury Service.

Additional Information:
- Relocation expenses are covered for this role, with Permanent Change of Station (PCS) services available.
- A sign-on bonus is approved for this position.

Student Loan Repayment:
The Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offers a maximum loan repayment of $120,000 over five years, with an annual cap of $24,000.

Qualifications:
- Board Certified in Physiatry/PM&R, Neurology, or Internal Medicine.
- Board Eligible/Certified in Spinal Cord Injury.

Licensure:
- A full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory is required.

Malpractice Coverage:
- VA physicians benefit from liability protection under the federal Tort Reform Act.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in education, clinical practice, or research that qualifies for an academic appointment is preferred.
- Administrative management experience is also desirable.

Work Schedule:
- Hours are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Academic Appointment:
- Academic positions are available based on educational and clinical/research experience.

Call Requirements:
- Participation in shared night and weekend on-call duties with three other SCI physicians.

Staffing Structure:
- The department comprises 20.2 personnel, including MDs, therapists, psychologists, social workers, and administrative staff, along with 50.5 nursing staff specialized in spinal cord injury.

Continuing Medical Education (CME):
- A stipend of $1,000 per year for CME reimbursement, plus one week of paid authorized absence (subject to availability).

Nature of Work:
- The role involves 60% administrative duties and 40% clinical responsibilities, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient care for spinal cord injury patients.

Medical Infrastructure:
- The facility features a newly renovated inpatient unit and a six-bed satellite unit.

Additional Benefits:
- Paid Time Off: 26 days of annual leave, with the option to carry over up to 688 hours.
- Unlimited sick leave accumulation, which can extend creditable service time at retirement.
- Ten federal holidays with pay and five days of paid absence for approved CME (subject to funding availability).
