The Software division at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is in search of a Senior Principal Software Engineer - Database Administrator to be based in the vicinity of our Camarillo, CA location. This role provides an opportunity to work with a diverse and expanding team.

If you are a seasoned Database Administrator or possess Software Development expertise with the capability to design, develop, and manage intricate databases utilizing tools such as SQL, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate as an independent contributor with minimal supervision.
  • Engage in an Agile work environment.
  • Ensure the seamless operation of databases through implementation and maintenance.
  • Perform performance tuning of indexes and databases.
  • Evaluate database design and system integration, provide backup recovery, and recommend enhancements or improvements.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and standards related to database management.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team of highly motivated system/network administrators, software developers, and mission planners.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience; OR an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in systems and database management.
  • Ability to design, develop, and manage complex databases using SQL or similar database languages.
  • Familiarity with best practices in database management.
  • Experience in implementing database schema architectures, including the design of stored procedures, foreign keys, and table relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills in a collaborative environment.
  • US Citizenship and must possess Interim Secret clearance prior to starting. Once commenced, must have the ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a containerized environment with Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with various sites and customers.
  • Familiarity with high-level programming languages such as C#, C++, PowerShell, VBA, etc.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps / TFS and Git.

Salary Range: $133,000 - $199,600
