Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teacher Assistant to join our team at MERIDEN NEW BRITAIN BERLIN YOUNG MENS. The successful candidate will work closely with our teaching staff to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities, including lesson plans and field trips.
  • Develop and provide activities that promote cultural awareness and understanding among children and families.
  • Participate in the screening, observation, and documentation of children's progress.
  • Supervise children during mealtime and encourage good nutrition and social skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each child's needs and abilities.
  • Assist the teacher in any aspect of the program as needed.
  • Take charge of the class in the teacher's absence.
  • Make home visits with the teacher as required and document them accordingly.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or baccalaureate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children.
  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.
  • Basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification required.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and provide gentle physical restraint to children as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional need to provide gentle physical restraint to children.
  • Some exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Noise level in work environment may be moderate to loud.
  • Travel may be required for conferences, meetings, and other duties.
  • Some evenings and weekend work may be required for events such as home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and social events.
