Job Summary:

The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the credentialing, recredentialing, and privileging of healthcare practitioners in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. This role involves verifying practitioner credentials, obtaining peer recommendations, and following up on any concerns that may delay the credentialing or privileging process. Additionally, the position involves tracking and updating databases to reflect current compliance with credentialing and privileging elements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify practitioner credentials, including education, licensure, and certification
• Obtain peer recommendations and reviews
• Follow up on any concerns or issues that may delay the credentialing or privileging process
• Track and update databases to reflect current compliance with credentialing and privileging elements
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely credentialing and privileging

Requirements:

An associate's degree and one year of experience in a related field, such as human resources recruiting, credentialing, privileging, or enrollment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent customer service skills, computer database skills, and word processing are required. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in written, oral, and electronic forms is also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of managed care enrollment is desirable. Credentialing experience and certification as a Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) from the National Association of Medical Staff Services are preferred.

Work Environment:

This role is based at Upstate University Hospital and requires a Monday to Friday schedule with regular working hours.
