About the Role:

This position reports to the Senior Credit Officer and supports the Middle Market C&I teams. The primary responsibility is to oversee the quality and performance of the bank's credit portfolios while advising line partners on strategies to safeguard bank capital.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing, approving, declining, or recommending credit applications within designated approval limits in line with the bank's lending policies.
  • Building partnerships with leaders from other business lines to achieve shared goals and coordinate on priorities.
  • Providing thought leadership in Credit Quality Administration and representing the department when necessary.
  • Collaborating with bankers to cultivate high-quality loan portfolios and enhance client relationships.
  • Managing delinquent loans and ensuring timely communication with overdue accounts.
  • Verifying risk rating accuracy on delinquent loans and those under review.
  • Reviewing credit recommendations for precision and mentoring banking staff in crafting thorough and accurate credit proposals.
  • Offering guidance on financial analysis, loan structuring, and other credit-related matters.
  • Engaging with external clients and banking personnel regarding risk assessment, mitigation, and loan structuring.
  • Reviewing necessary reports and documentation, including quarterly problem loan reports and concentration reports.
  • Advising senior management on potential changes to the company's credit policies to mitigate risk.
  • Ensuring compliance with all banking regulations relevant to assigned duties.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the bank's policies and procedures related to the Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable regulations.
  • Actively promoting and embodying the Umpqua corporate culture.
  • Taking initiative and serving as a positive role model for colleagues.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

About You:

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, General Management, or a combination of relevant education and banking experience is required.

Preferred qualifications include graduation from the Pacific Coast Banking School (PCBS) or Omega Commercial Lending School.

Candidates should possess 7-10 years of experience in Middle Market C&I lending and demonstrate strong credit analysis capabilities.

Essential skills include:

  • Advanced analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, comfortable interacting with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Strong communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial reports related to credit portfolio performance.
  • Capability to train and present to both small and large groups.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to lead complex projects, prioritize tasks, and meet various deadlines.
  • Awareness of legal and regulatory requirements pertinent to the bank's portfolio.

Workstyle:

This position requires full onsite presence.

We offer a competitive total rewards package, including base salary and comprehensive benefits. The salary range for this role is $127,000 to $215,000, with the final pay rate determined by various non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
