The Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Staff to join our team. As an Educational Support Staff, you will play a vital role in providing support to students, teachers, and staff in a dynamic and fast-paced educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Supervision: Monitor students at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being. This includes maintaining a watchful eye on students in the building, outside, and during off-campus activities.
- Lesson Planning: Plan engaging and interactive lessons for a group of up to 20 students, incorporating various activities and enrichment programs.
- Professional Development: Complete required professional development hours each school calendar year and attend PD opportunities as assigned.
- Documentation: Turn in lesson plans weekly, including standards, objectives, goals, procedures, and specific supply requests.
- Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, working cooperatively with teachers, parents, and staff to ensure student success.
- Adaptability: Show flexibility and adaptability in working with students of varying needs and abilities.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement effective educational programs.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned, including reporting incidents, cleaning, and completing accident and behavior reports when required.
Special Requirements:
- Special Education Staff: Assist with diaper changing and bathroom issues as needed, work cooperatively with teachers and parents to ensure specific child requirements are met.
- 17-year-old Staff: May not supervise students alone, may not clock in before 6:00 a.m., and able to work curbside.
- Certified Teachers: Should only be used to teach academic classes.
- Educational Assistants/Mid-Day Assistants: Can be used for Special Education and/or academic assistance.
Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
- Courteous, respectful, and protective of students' and parents' privacy.
- Professional behavior and dress.
- Positive and helpful attitude, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with school personnel.
- Effective decision-making skills.
Physical and Emotional Demands:
- Ability to see, hear, and move quickly enough to provide for the safety and instructional needs of children.
- Physical interaction throughout the day, including standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, and light lifting.
- Emotional coping skills to manage student, staff, and parent behavior.
- Tolerance for environmental smells and substances commonly associated with children and educational institutions.
