Job Overview: The Senior Physician Assistant at Johns Hopkins University will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care. This role is ideal for an experienced Physician Assistant looking to take on a leadership position and contribute to the success of our emergency medicine department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive, accurate histories and physicals, including chief complaint, presenting signs and symptoms, and past medical history.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, x-rays, diets, physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or other services when delegated by a supervising physician.
  • Initiate IV therapy, perform injections, arterial puncture, venipuncture, and arterial line insertion.
  • Maintain technical proficiency with approved procedures, including suturing, wound care, and orthopedic care.
  • Prescribe and regulate medications, evaluate outcomes of previously implemented interventions, and arrange consultations and referrals as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification by the NCCPA or similar national certifying body
  • Completion of a CAAHEP certified Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed as a PA in Maryland or other state where practicing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of ED experience
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required
