Registered Float Nurse

POSITION SUMMARY
The Float Nurse is responsible for delivering expert nursing care to a designated group of patients within the healthcare facility. This role involves collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The Float Nurse will execute all responsibilities in alignment with established protocols and guidelines. Additionally, this position includes oversight and delegation of tasks to support staff.
Flexibility to be trained in Med/Surg, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit is essential.
Reports to: Director of Nursing
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background
Associate's Degree in Nursing is mandatory
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is advantageous
Experience
1-3 years of nursing experience is preferred, with recent acute care experience within the last three years being ideal
Essential Skills
Strong critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to operate with minimal oversight are required. The candidate must thrive in high-pressure environments and respond appropriately to urgent situations. Excellent communication skills are a must.
Ability to act decisively in emergency scenarios is crucial.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required
Handle with Care training must be completed within four months of hire
Licensure:
Current RN license to practice in North Carolina (NC licensure or multi-state compact license).
