POSITION TITLE: Retail Sales Associate

DEPARTMENT: Retail Operations

REPORTS TO: Store Manager/Assistant Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

To efficiently and courteously manage the point of sale system in accordance with company standards and protocols.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Accurately and swiftly process customer transactions. Ensure proper identification of items that may not scan correctly.

2) Employ effective scanning and bagging techniques to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

3) Adhere to company guidelines regarding cash handling and complete necessary documentation.

4) Assist in various store operations beyond the checkout area, including but not limited to:

  • a) Restocking tobacco displays.
  • b) Replenishing the refrigerated section with dairy products, beverages, and other essentials.
  • c) Organizing the fresh produce section.
  • d) Preparing ice bags as required.
  • e) Managing waste disposal inside and outside the establishment.
  • f) Ensuring cleanliness around the fuel pumps, including washing surfaces and maintaining supplies.
  • g) Conducting temperature checks at designated intervals.

5) Maintain a pristine appearance for the store, which includes but is not limited to:

  • a) Cleaning all glass surfaces, including coolers and entrance doors as needed.
  • b) Sanitizing restrooms and all flooring within the store.
  • c) Organizing and straightening all aisles, coolers, and freezers.
  • d) Keeping the exterior tidy: cleaning payphones, sidewalks, and emptying trash receptacles.

6) Possess comprehensive knowledge of company policies regarding rental services.

7) Understand company regulations concerning in-store lottery sales.

8) Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.

9) Comply with all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Provide assistance in other departments, such as the deli, as required.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1) Must possess manual dexterity to effectively scan and bag items.

2) Strong communication skills are essential for delivering excellent customer service.

3) Proficient mathematical skills are necessary.

4) Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently.
