Job Summary:

The Supervisor of Occupational Therapy Services will provide leadership for our occupational therapy program, supervising certified occupational therapist assistants and providing therapy to assigned students. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the work of occupational therapy staff, including certified occupational therapist assistants
  • Provide therapy to assigned students, in accordance with their individual educational plans and treatment plans
  • Attend CSE meetings and provide input on student progress
  • Document quarterly supervision of occupational therapy work
  • Consult with the principal regarding performance evaluations and program issues
  • Perform standardized and non-standardized assessments of students
  • Complete all new requested OT therapy evaluations and screenings
  • Record keeping, including initial assessments, annual assessments, and progress reports
  • Sign off on all reevaluation assessments and daily notes completed by the COTA
  • Complete quarterly Medicaid notes on caseload and sign off on COTA's quarterly Medicaid notes
  • Consult with classroom teachers regularly to maximize coordination of student activity
  • Participate in treatment team planning and share information with other team members
  • Attend committee meetings and participate in professional development opportunities
Requirements:
  • BS in Occupational Therapy; temporary NYS Certification for Occupational Therapy, required
  • MS in Occupational Therapy; permanent NYS Certification for Occupational Therapy, preferred
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), preferred
  • A minimum of two years' full-time experience in Occupational Therapy
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment background checks, including fingerprinting
